Concord Library Upcoming Programs

The Concord Free Public Library has extended its hours at the Main Library to include Sundays from 1-5 p.m.. The Fowler Branch Library remains closed on Sundays.

Adult Programs
“Poetry from the Library Featuring Maya Janson and Helena Minton” Sunday, Dec. 11, 3 p.m.
Join acclaimed poets Maya Janson and former Concord resident Helena Minton, who will read from their works and engage in a Q&A with the audience about their craft. This event will take place in the Goodwin Forum at the Main Library. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.
“Cookbook Club” Wednesday, Dec. 14, noon.

This December, Cookbook Club will have a holiday cookie swap!
You may choose any cookie recipe you’d like, or you may also choose a recipe from one of these books: Dorie’s Cookies, by Dorie Greenspan, or The perfect cookie: your ultimate guide to foolproof cookies, brownies & bars. This program will take place at the Fowler Branch Library.

“A Christmas Carol, Featuring Actors Stephen Collins and Poornima Kirby” Wednesday, Dec. 14, 6:30 p.m.
Join actors Stephen Collins and Poornima Kirby for a funny, heartfelt journey through Charles’ Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. This 1-hour adaptation shows Ebenezer Scrooge’s transformation from a grumpy, selfish misanthrope to a generous, wise and kindly man, full of the spirit of Christmas. This program will take place in the Goodwin Forum at the Main Library. It is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.

Teen Programs
“Teen Ornament Workshop” Friday, Dec. 16, 3:30 p.m.
Decorate a wood slice ornament! Paint, draw, hot glue, or affix with a polaroid. Your ornament will be the perfect gift or decoration to cheer up the season. This program will take place in the Teen Lounge at the Main Library. No registration required.

“Make Your Own Videogame with Coderdojo” Saturday, Dec. 17, 2 p.m.
Videogame designer and master coder Matthew Mackowski will join us in the Teen Lounge at the Main Library for the first installment of a monthly program, “Make Your Own Videogame with Coderdojo.” Teen participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of coding and get an inside look at the videogame industry and what it takes to become a designer. Or if you already have projects you are working on, bring them in for consultation! Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops. No registration required.

Children’s Programs
“Take and Make Gingerbread House Kits” Begins Monday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. and continues while supplies last.
The Children’s Department is offering children and families gingerbread house kits for the holiday season! Stop by the Main Library or the Fowler Branch Library to pick up your kit. These will be provided on a first come, first serve basis – there is no registration. One kit per family. This program is generously sponsored by the Concord Free Public Library Corporation.
Registration is required for all programs unless otherwise noted.
