Concord Free Public Programs and Events

Both branches of the Concord Free Public Library (CFPL) will be closed for the holidays Sunday, December 25, Monday, December 26, Sunday, January 1, and Monday, January 2. Both branches will close early at 1 PM on Saturday, December 24.

Adult Programs

“Stitch Circle” Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1 p.m.

Join fellow knitting, crocheting, and needlework enthusiasts for social crafting! Help others out of tough spots, share patterns and tips, and enjoy crafting with others. We will meet in the Fowler Backyard if weather permits and in the Fowler Meeting Room if the weather is bad. No registration required.

“Being with Grief: Part 3” Tuesday, Dec. 27, 7:15 p.m. on Zoom.

Grief is hard. In times of deep sorrow, tender feelings arise, especially during seasons when we gather together. Journey with Be Well Be Here to process grief through mindful listening, healing practices such as meditation or Reiki, and compassionate conversation. All those experiencing grief are welcome.

“Watercolor Flowers” Friday, Jan. 6, 1 p.m.

Join local artist Laurie Engdahl and paint flowers! Learn watercolor tools, tricks, and techniques over a three part series on Jan. 6, Jan. 13, and Jan. 20. All skill levels are welcome, whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or you want to hone your skills. Materials will be supplied. This program will take place in the Fowler Meeting Room.

Teen Programs

“Teen Dungeons and Dragons” Wednesday, Dec. 28, 3:30 p.m.

Teens! Join Dungeons and Dragons at the Teen Lounge in the Main Library. Play casual one-off games or start a campaign with others. Beginners encouraged. Experts expected to help out! No registration required.

“Teen Board Game Advisory Board” Thursday, Dec. 29, 3:30 p.m.

Join The Board Game Advisory Board! Receive your very own Board Game Board Member membership card and choose from our game selection at the Library, plan which games we purchase in the future, or bring your own board and card games from home. Popcorn will ALWAYS be provided.

Children’s Programs

“Creative Drama Workshop for Kids” Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2 p.m.

Children ages 6-8 years are invited to join this Little Spark theater class, which will focus on  creative drama as a process-focused form of theater. We’ll focus on senses, feelings, and movement through fun and imaginative play. Children will build confidence, social awareness, empathy, and problem-solving skills. This program will take place in the Children’s Library at the Main Library and is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.

“Family Noon Years Eve Party!” Saturday, Dec. 31, 11:30 a.m.

Let’s ring in 2023 early! Wear your sparkly best, and join Fowler staff for crafts, music, and a countdown for when the clock strikes 12! We will cheer in the new year with sparkling cider and snacks. This program will take place in the Fowler Meeting Room. No registration required.
