Garden Club of Concord grants program makes an impact on community

March 2, 2023

The Garden Club of Concord, a staple in the town’s community for 95 years, is dedicated to promoting the appreciation of and the assistance in the preservation, restoration and development of gardens and the natural environment in the Concord community.  Over the years, the Club has made a significant impact on the community through its grants program. These grants are totally funded with profits from the Club’s annual plant sale in May.

Earth Day,  April 22, is just around the corner.  The Club is excited to celebrate this important occasion with a grant to the Natural Resources Division to fund two different types of pollinator kits to be distributed to the public.  Pollinators play a crucial role in supporting biodiversity and producing much of the food we eat, but many pollinator populations are declining due to habitat loss and other environmental pressures.  These kits will make a positive impact on the environment.

Other organizations that have recently benefited from the Garden Club of Concord’s grant program include Gaining Ground, Council on Aging, MCI Prison, Minuteman Arc and the Concord Land Trust.

The Garden Club of Concord’s grant program has not only helped organizations and individuals in Concord but has also helped to promote horticulture and environmental conservation, making the town a better place for all.Applications are available on our website: www.gardenclubofconcord.org.  The deadline for applications is in October.
