Are you in high school? Do you like to write? Here’s a chance to use your skill and enthusiasm to win $500 to invest in your future.

Concord250 is inviting you to submit a short essay to help celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

What do you think life in America will be like 50 years from now? What will have changed? What will be the predominant features of life in the U.S., physically or ideologically? And what will have happened to Concord? For instance, what will have drawn new residents or caused people to leave?

You can make this fun: Interview relatives, neighbors, or friends who lived in Concord 50 years ago and get a feel for how much life has changed since then. Then, use your imagination to define your vision of what life will be like in 2075.

Students in grades 9-12 living in Concord or attending school here are eligible. Essays are limited to 1,000 words and must be submitted by April 30.

Use standard written English grammar and mechanics, provide details as needed, and cite sources for any information that is not your own.

An evaluation committee will read the essays, select five entries whose writers have best developed and detailed their ideas, and award each writer a $500 honorarium. The top five essays will be published. All entrants will receive a certificate of participation.

To submit your entry, visit Concord250.org for details or go to bit.ly/3J0lEjr.

What are you waiting for? Put on your thinking cap and start writing!
