Study the art — and learn the stories — at Fowler

An opening reception was held recently at the Fowler Library for “Every Picture Tells a Story,” an exhibit celebrating Concord Free Public Library’s 150th anniversary.  It will be up for all to see through August 18.

The show features work by 24 local artists, ranging in age from 14 to 90. Each piece also displays a brief story about how the art came to be. 

Catherine Cantrell, “Lost their Partners” The Story: “Lonely earrings come together for harmony!”
Julie Smith L’Heureux, “Boston Walkway.” The Story: “This captures the natural setting in an urban environment; it was taken at the Christian Science Center in Boston.”
Gary Barbati, “And She Sang” The Story: “Inspiration for this artwork comes from a song called “Song to the Siren” by Mortal Coil.”
Irene Stapleford, “Spring Light.” The Story: “One of my regular sightlines from my home is the neighbor’s house and driveway, now semi-obscured by new construction between our two houses…”
Harold ‘Buzz’ Nichols, “Low Tide Riff Raff.” The Story: “low tide has lots of riff-raff activity! “
Suzanne Revy, “Red Shopping Cart.” The Story: “An unsuspected sighting.”
