Concord-Carlisle High School gets top grades from U.S. News, Boston Magazine

Concord-Carlisle High School was ranked among the top high schools in Massachusetts by both U.S. News and World Report and Boston Magazine in their 2023 annual education issues.

U.S. News placed CCHS as the 25th top high school in the state and the 711th school in the country. It is also 22nd in the Boston Metro Area and ranked 39th nationally for its STEM education.

Boston Magazine ranked CCHS as 28th, using data from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, including MCAS and SAT scores as well as class size and student-teacher ratios. Only schools in towns or districts within, or partially within, I-495 are included. 

The high school has 1,306 students, an average of 19.3 for class size, and a student-teacher ratio of 12.3:1, according to Boston. On MCAS, students scoring proficient or higher were 86 percent in English Language Arts, 80 percent in MCAS math, and 79 percent in Science/Technology/Engineering.

U.S News scores emphasized proficiency in math and reading as well as participation in Advanced Placement testing. 

  • Concord’s score was 95.98
  • 56 percent of students took at least one AP exam
  • 54 percent passed at least one AP exam
  • 63 percent demonstrated mathematics proficiency
  • 91 percent demonstrated reading proficiency
  • The graduation rate is 99 percent.
