Concord-Carlisle High School’s soccer players have emerged as the teams to beat in the state tournaments next week, with the boys seeded #1 in the MIAA Division One and the girls ranked #9.

On the boys’ side, the 15-0-1 Patriots will host an opponent to be determined on November 5 at 2 p.m. C-C will play the winner of the #32 Peabody Veterans High School (8-3-5) versus #33 Durfee High School (9-3-4) game. That game will be played at Peabody, but no date or time was listed on the bracket.

The Patriots bring an eight-game winning streak into the tournament, having won all eight by shutout. Last season Concord-Carlisle was the 6th seed and advanced to the round of 8 before losing to eventual state champion St. John’s Prep (Danvers) 2-1. The Patriots defeated Lowell 3-0 and Brockton 1-0 in the earlier rounds.

The ninth-seeded girls soccer team will play its first game on November 5, 5 p.m. at Concord-Carlisle’s Memorial Field. The 13-3-2 Patriots will host #24 Bridgewater-Raynham (12-3-3).

C-C won its last three games and five of its last six. B-R went 2-1-2 in its last five games. Last season the Patriots were seeded 17th and played Dual County League rival Lincoln-Sudbury losing 4-3 in overtime.

The top 32 teams based on the MIAA power rankings qualified for the tournament. Teams ranked 33 or lower qualify for a play-in game with a record of .500 or above.
