Fowler Family Diwali Gala! 

Saturday, November 4 at 10 a.m. 

Let’s celebrate Diwali! Join us to make rangolis, get henna art, craft garlands, and learn about the Indian Festival of Lights. Feel free to bring snacks to share! Fowler Branch Library.

Concord and the Vietnam War 

Sunday, November 5 at 2 p.m. 

The first evening of Memorial Day Weekend in 1971, men wearing fatigues began to gather at the Old North Bridge to protest the war they had just returned home from fighting. On a panel moderated by Elise Lemire, author of Black Walden and Battle Green, Vietnam, three Massachusetts Vietnam veterans recall why they chose to stage their protests against the Vietnam War at New England’s most storied battlefields. Monday, November 6 at 7 p.m. 

Humane Incarceration: A Panel Discussion with Concord Prison Outreach and State Representatives 

Concord Prison Outreach and the League of Women Voters of Concord-Carlisle come together to lead a panel discussion on the topic of incarceration. The panel will also include state representatives and will explore ways to improve the health and quality of life of the people incarcerated in the Commonwealth and prepare them, upon release, to be full citizens and healthy community members. Main Library.

Visit cfpl.info/events for a list of regular weekly children’s programs at the Main Library and Fowler Branch Library. The majority require no registration — just show up with your little ones! 

Teens and Tweens 

Teen Advisory Board 

Tuesday, November 7 at 3:30 p.m. 

Teen Advisory Board is a monthly meeting of teen volunteers who work with the Library to help plan programs, buy materials, and run events. Attendees receive one hour of community service and get first crack at future community service opportunities! Main Library. No registration required. 

MCBA Book Club 

Wednesday, November 8 at 2 p.m. (meets every first Wednesday) 

Do you love to read? Would you like to meet new friends? Each month, we will discuss a title from the 2023 – 2024 Massachusetts Children’s Book Award list. At the end of the program, participants can vote for their favorite book. The book you nominate may receive the award! An array of snacks will be provided. Fowler Branch Library. 

Homeless Care Packages 

Tuesday, November 21 at 4 p.m. 

Want to help your neighbors in the season of giving? Come help us assemble care packages for the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest. It’s not required, but feel free to contribute new socks as well as new or gently used gloves, mittens, scarves, or hats. One hour of community service will be given for participation. Do something kind for someone in need! Main Library. No registration required.
