Please note both library branches will be closed December 24 and 25 for Christmas, as well as December 31 and January 1 for New Year’s. Fowler will be closed December 18 – 20 for building maintenance.

Are you looking to improve your reading? Join Samantha, a young golden retriever, for a 10-15 minute reading session. When you arrive, sign up and choose a book to read! This program is designed for developing readers of all ages. Fowler Branch Library. No registration required. 

Winter Scavenger Hunt 

Tuesday, December 26 – All Day 

Can you find all the stuffed friends hiding on the first floor of the Library? Find all 10, then visit the Children’s Library Desk for a prize! Main Library. No registration required. 

A Family Noon Year’s Eve Party! 

Saturday, December 30 at 11:30 a.m. 
Ring in 2024 early! Wear your sparkly best, and join staff for crafts, music, and a 12 (p.m.) countdown! We will cheer in the new year with sparkling cider and snacks. Fowler Branch Library. No registration required. 


Author Talk: Kate Stout, author of Ambient Light 

Saturday, December 16 at 2 p.m. 

Join author Kate Stout for a discussion of her novel Ambient Light, centering on seven friends navigating the teenage years by clinging to each other. When Sebastian splits off from the group to live an openly gay life in San Francisco, he leaves his friends perplexed and floundering. Main Library. 

Fowler Afoot: A Walking Book Club 

4th Wednesday, December 27 at 10 a.m. 

Join Fowler Afoot! We meet at the Fowler Branch Library, and then walk together for about 20 minutes on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail discussing art and literature. This month we will discuss poems by Mary Oliver. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we will meet inside. 


“Drive-In” Movie 

Thursday, December 28 at 3:30 p.m. 

Join us for our very first drive-in movie. You’ll be able to customize your very own cardboard box car and then use it as your seat while enjoying a short movie and snacks! You’ll be able to take your car home, too! Main Library. Ages 2-6.

Gingerbread Wars 

Saturday, December 16 at 2 p.m. 

Destroy your opponents’ gingerbread bases with your sugary soldiers while defending your own base from candy cutthroats! Please note: those with food allergies may wish to skip this program. Main Library. Generously sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.
