Batten down the hatches: Here comes the first storm of 2024

January 6, 2024

Get out the shovels. Find your snow brushes. And get ready for the world to turn white.

It’s time for the first snowstorm of 2024 — and the National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snow Saturday night into Sunday, with accumulation between 5-9 inches overnight and additional snow throughout the day.

Plan to spend the day at home — preferably making French toast with all the bread, eggs, and milk stocked up during the traditional pre-storm rush to the grocery store. While you’re admiring the winter wonderland outside your window, why not send us a few photos of snowy scenes, children at play, snow beards, and sledding?

Snow is expected to taper off in the early evening Sunday, with accumulation of less than half an inch, according to NWS. The sun will show its face on Monday, but keep an eye on the roads if you plan to commute into work.
