Affordable housing in ‘dire straits’

I was stunned and saddened to read that the Junction Village affordable assisted living project was left unsupported by the current Select Board, resulting in the decision of the Grantham Group to terminate the plans.

This marks the end of more than 10 years of work by the Concord Housing Development Corporation, of which I was a member. It leaves Concord’s affordable housing in dire straits, and puts the town at risk for uncontrolled development if our affordable housing stock falls below 10 percent.

I look forward to a fuller explanation of the boards’ decisions to end this important project.
