Letter: Apply for Concord’s new residential tax exemption by April 1

February 24, 2024

The real estate tax bills delivered to all Concord property owners last month include, for the first time ever, a fiscal year 2024 residential real estate tax exemption — if you applied for it! All owners who occupied their Concord home as their principal residence on January 1, 2023 are eligible to save $1,877 on their current tax bill only if they file the one-page application with the Board of Assessors by April 1, 2024

The savings are solely dependent on qualifying occupancy; income level is not a factor. If your tax bill displays two credits of ($938.61) each, subtracted from the third and fourth payments (due on Feb. 1 and May 1, 2024, respectively), then your application was approved.

If you do not see credits, or you have not yet applied, and you do qualify, you have barely six weeks to get your application in!

A newly formed group of residents, under the banner “Concord Residents Connect,” is helping to remind and educate their neighbors about the time-sensitive deadline – April 1 — and the need to contact the Town Assessors to obtain the $1,877 savings.
